THE PEOPLE YOU WILL MEET ON THE NAMIBIA SAFARI
Namaqualand Flowers, Richtersveld, The Kgalagadi Transfontier Park, Augrabies Falls National Park and The Fish River Canyon in Namibia.
We shall meet some of the most fascinating cultures during our Namibia tour. In the south of Namibia you will meet the Nama people. Unfortunately the Nama have lost most of their indigenous culture
The San people generally speaking still prefer to be called Bushmen. They were their “footprint” in the form of rock paintings through the entire Namibia. You will see some excellent preserved examples at Twyfelfontein. Unfortunately there are very little place where the Bushmen can still practice their traditional lifestyle as gatherers and hunters.
In Damaraland we will visit a traditional village. We shall avoid tourist traps and visit community where you might be the first visitor ever. These people are goat farmers and we don’t want them to become dependant on handouts from tourist. We therefore visit different communities on each Namibia Safari. This way we help them to afford the odd luxury but they will certainly continue their traditional lifestyle.
In the east of Namibia you will meet the Herero people. They are Namibia’s most colourful people. The women ware very large headgear and very colourful skirts. Some of them are commercial farmers and the rest are either employed by other commercial farmers or in industries
